Trekking through Stok mountain range
The Stok range, which is the most prominent one in the Ladakh region of North West India attracts the interests of a lot of mountaineers. View from the highest peak, the Stok Kangri is very rewarding. On conquering the elevation of more than 6000 m of the Kangri, the breathtaking view of the Indus valley welcomes the mountaineers. Such a view relieves down all the hardships felt during the climb and a deep satisfaction rests inside.
Exploring the Kangyatse and Suru valley
Trekking through the beautiful and tough terrain of Ladakh is all together a different experience. With a zeal to climb higher and higher, mountaineers in large numbers pave their way to the more difficult Kangyatse peak. The trek towards the Kangyatse passes through the famous Markha valley and it takes about 9 days to cover the expedition. Like this, there are many other peaks in this altitude range of Ladakh.
The King of all climbs in Ladakh, the mountain peak Nun in the Suru valley is the mecca for all mountaineers. This peak lies in the greater Himalayan ranges and is accessible via Kargil-Padum road.
Best time to explore
Trekking season in Ladakh usually stays open between the months of May and October. After October, the region falls prey to heavy snowfall so it is ill advised to go trekking that time.
